IMMIGRATION TO AMERICA


 “IMMIGRATION”

Andrew Thomas -6th GGF came to Charleston, South Carolina 15 September 1752 and landed there during a hurricane. He arrived on the ship “UPTON” by Captain John Gardiner from the Metherlands. The ship left the port of Rotterdam. The ship “UPTON” arrived late and was laid up on the Ashley River and was drove a great way up the marsh near Wappoo. The hurricane was one of the worst in South Carolina history.

William Hickman 1655-1760 came to America in 1663 from England. He arrived in Virginia

Sandy Hunter 1679-1756 came from Scotland. He landed in Pennsylvania in 1696 and settled in Clark County, Mississippi

John Barton hailed from a village named “ Barton-In-The-Beans” in Leicestershire, England. He stepped off a ship named “HADLOW” in Virginia with one servant.

George W Goodwin 1794-1885 came from Ireland to Boston, Massachusetts on August 8, 1831

Maria Elizabethan Stiel Schaffer 1731-1786 came to America from Germany to Pennsylvania in 1741

James Gillmor 1685-1758 came from Londonderry, Ireland to New Hampshire in 1717

William Richards 1735-1846 came to America in 1779 to Pennsylvania from Scotland.

Archibald Todd 1745-1783 came from Scotland to Charles Town, South Carolina in 1772

Fredrick Ferdinand 1842-1922 of Earshall Castle Earshall left Kullerstad, Ostergotland, Sweden and went to Hull England on Aug 30. 1895. Departed Goteborg, England. He arrived on Ellis Island, New York on May 21, 1872 on the ship "S.S. Silesia". On the ships log it had him as a baker aboard the vessel. In real life he was a Blacksmith in Sweden & America.

Robert Crawley 1681-1761 came from England to Virginia in 1672

William of Westness Traill 1654-1705 came from Scotland to Maryland in 1682


Jane Breckinridge arrived in Virginia from Scotland in 1740


Hans Petr Wambler 1722- came from France with his family and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1741.

Lady Janet Jane Swansey 1710-1796 arrived in America from Northern Ireland in 1736. (Henderson)

Thomas Scott immigrated from Ipswich, England on the ship “Elizabeth” with his wife Elizabeth, mother Martha Scott, Elizabeth age 9,  Abigail age 7 and Thomas age 6. They were headed to New England and landed in July of 1634. (Richards)

Joan Gallop came to Massachusetts from England with her mother, Christobel and brothers John, William, Nathaniel and Samuel on the ship “Griffin” on September 4, 1633. She was 15 years old. (Thomas)
